Why Consider a Career as an Ultrasound Technologist?

There are some GREAT reasons to consider a sonography, and here are just a few…

You’ll Make a Difference!

You’ll personally interact with patients every day and be there to support them through both joyous and anxious moments.

You’ll serve as a critical link between patients and their physicians.

It’s a Growing Field.

You’ll be part of a dynamic and expanding medical specialty.

In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics include Diagnostic Medical Sonographers as one of the top professions expected to see rapid growth over the coming years.

You’ll Make Great Money.

Ultrasound Technologists do very well! Starting salaries (for sonographers with less than 1 year of experience), are often over $40,000.

Lead Ultrasound Technologists can earn in excess of $70,000!

There’s Variety.

A career as a Ultrasound Technologist is not a “one-size-fits-all” path. Nope! There is opportunity to specialize in a number of clinical specialties.

This not only increases your value, but also allows you to pursue your unique interests!

Training Time is Compressed.

Unlike traditional four-year degree programs, you can be on the job in as little as 18 months from the time you start your program!

This represents a significant return of your time, effort, and dollars.

You’ll be In Demand!

Not only will you earn an attractive paycheck, you’ll be in demand!

Students from solid sonography programs often have job offers pending even before they have completed their coursework and certification.

About Excelsior Ultrasound Institute…

Based in Orlando, Florida, Excelsior Ultrasound Institute was founded and is led by one of the nation’s leading ultrasound experts, Andrew Thompson, MD, MBBS, BS, RDMS, RVT.

Dr. Thompson and his staff of top-tier medical educators offer students a rigorous and challenging 18-month sonography training program with a heavy focus on clinical experience. Students who successfully progress through Excelsior’s training will be provided employment opportunities in addition to receiving their ARDMS certification in sonography.

Are You a Current Sonographer or Medical Resident Seeking Specialized Clinical Training?
Based on availability, Dr. Thompson also provides one-on-one, specialized clinical training for Medical Residents and current sonographers. The approach is 100% customized based on the unique needs of the student, helping him/her gain valuable knowledge and skills across specific specialty areas.

Focus on Specialization

Most programs prepare students for only one or two specialties. At Excelsior, we push our students to reach higher standards – working hard to obtain specialties in six areas. This not only makes our students more marketable, but also allows them to demand higher starting compensation.

Focus on Clinical Experience

There is no better “teacher” than clinical experience, and Excelsior’s program reflects this from beginning to end! While other programs spend a disproportionate amount of time in the classroom, our students are learning in a “hands on” way as they shadow and assist practicing physicians on a day-to-day basis.

Low Teacher-to-Student Ratios

Only 20 students are admitted to each 18-month program. This allows us to give each student the individual time and attention they deserve! This also allows us to cover more ground (and at a deeper level) than almost any other competing program. It’s an intense 18 months, but we strongly believe our students are better for it!

Admission Criteria…

Excelsior’s admission criteria include the following:

  • High school diploma
  • Completion of a Biology course and a Math course at the college level
  • Completing a successful interview with Excelsior faculty members

Tuition and Fees…

Tuition and fees are as follows:
$200 Registration Fee. This fee is refundable if, for any reason, Excelsior does not accept the student.

$45,000 Tuition. This covers the cost of all aspects of the 18-month program including instruction, equipment, and clinical time.

$25 Uniform Fee. This fee is per monogrammed scrub.
